Workplace HazardBeat Work Fatigue
Work fatigue is something that
all of us who are employed should take into consideration. In some cases, it can be fatal. Most people need 7.5 – 8.5 hours of sleep every day. However, those working night shift get about 5 to 7 hours less sleep per week than those who work the day shift. When we do not get enough sleep our productivity and performance suffers. We have slower reaction times and a hard time concentrating and making decisions. It is important to learn how to recognize the signs of fatigue and take precautionary steps to reduce the risk of injuries. When you develop your work schedule, make sure you think about the number of hours and time of day you are working. Also, the number of hours you are sleeping or not sleeping. With this information you can determine whether or not you are at risk for fatigue impairment.
