Top Three Myths about Workplace Injuries

False beliefs around workplace injuries.

An informal poll has revealed the top three safety myths people believe about workplace injuries. 

Myth #1 – Accidents just happen – Research has found approximately 99% of all accidents that occur can be prevented.  Everybody has control over the situations that surround them.  

Myth #2 – Being safe takes too much time and month – The cost of a workplace injury outweighs the cost of implementing measures to prevent it. When the direct and indirect costs of minor injuries are considered is it not worth it to spend the time and money?

Myth #3 – You cannot create a hazard-free workplace – The general belief is that a workplace cannot be hazard-free.  However, it requires employees to be disciplined and diligent when working.  Hazards can be eliminated if people are educated.
