Best workplace list

The top 10 workplaces in Canada.
Photo: happy workplaceThe list of the top 10 workplaces in Canada has been released.  Four technological firms have made the list.

The list was producted by Great Place to Work Institute, a company in the United States.

The organization sends employees in 40 countries a survey and then produces a list for each country.

Criteria such as communication with employees, providing the tools and training to d the job, fairness, pride and workplace camaraderie were used to assess workplaces.

Environics Communications (Toronto), which is number one on the list, sends employees on retreats, offers afternoon bike excursions and offers new parents flexible work arrangements.

Netapp Canada (Mississauga), number two on the list, makes a real effort to thank its employees.  The organization’s co-chair makes about 30 calls a day to acknowledge employees for the work they do.  In the end, all 71 employees are thanked.
