Flexibility attractive to workersIn workplace, only money tops it: poll
A poll
funded by Telus and done by Harris/Decima found that compensation and flexibility are the
two most important criteria when assessing the attractiveness of a job. Approximately 89% of employees stated they find workplaces that offer flexibility more attractive. As the economy strengthens and more Boomers retire, people will become more choosy about the organizations they want to be employed at. Organizations who can offer employees the option of working from the office, on the road, or at home have a competitive advantage in comparison to other companies, states Telus vice-president Jeff Lowe. These companies will also be able to attract top talent more easily and retain them, in turn, this will increase productivity and loyalty. The poll found that 66% of survey participants said a flexible workplace would make them more loyal. As to whether the productivity levels of an organization would suffer with employees working at home, 87% of employees who work off-site said they are just as productive as they would be in the office. Only 46% of participants said they worked at an organization that offers flexibility and/or telework opportunities.
