Do social networks increase happiness in the workplace?

Study shows benefit of social networking in the workplace.
A study on social networks clarifies the doubt whether social networking sites enhance or inhibit workplace productivity.  The study shows that social networks increase employee happiness.

James Fowler from The University of California found that happiness is contagious for people in a social network.  He found that people up to three degrees removed from one another can experience that happiness.

Fowler states that others are positively affected when an individual takes control of their happiness, a chain reaction can occur.  Sadness can also spread, but it takes longer to do so.

Another study published in the British Medical Journal has shown that a happy friend increases a person’s chance of being happy by 9% and an unhappy friend decreases it by 7%.

So for those employers who are doubting the effectiveness of social networking, know that it increases employee happiness, and a happy employee is a productive employee!
